Newsletter Sep/Aug

Firstly, we’ve a busy month ahead of us as our Outside Catering Team will be cooking on the fire cage at Forest Feastival in Merthyr Mawr EVERY WEEKEND in September! See our website for a sneak peak of the menu we’ll be serving.

(We’re still looking for staff to help us, if interested please apply here.)

Our veg growing project

is BOOMING, we planted 70+ squash plants in preparation for our winter menu in our neighbours’ garden, and most seem to be doing very well! Crown Prince is the main crop we decided on, basically “it” came down to taste, they are DELICIOUS!!! Our ducks (Dave, Betty, Hilly & Parsnip) aka “The Slug Slayers” are also making quite the impression on social media, I’m sure they would like more attention though. (@Welsh_Duck_Pics - Instagram)

Our first fundraiser for Cegin Hedyn Community Canteen was a roaring success & its opening date has been set for Tuesday October 4th! Our goal is to serve local, seasonal & organic food to those who need it the most on a “Pay what you Can” model. We offer volunteer opportunities for those wanting to get involved. Find out more at www.ceginhedyn.org.uk or follow us on social @CeginHedyn.

Our head chef Dan has been away and will be returning from a long-overdue 3 week holiday in his home country of Romania. Sous Chef Josh has been running the kitchen in his absence & doing a wonderful job.

Our toilets & window display have had a beautiful spruce up by the talented Lucy from our front of house team, please take a look and share her wonderful work with the world. (@StrangeLime - Instagram).

Rhys, another talented artist on our front of house team has painted some wonderful vegetables and you can see the originals for sale in our Atrium, with limited edition prints & cards available near the bar. (@RhysCannonArt - Instagram).

A big thank you to Simon who joined our kitchen team back in June. He’s a semi-retired super chef who ,when not selling records, kicking a football or working in YMCA Charity Shop, cooks up a storm with our kitchen team!

I think that's enough to digest for now.

Kindness, Care & Love
