FareShare Launches

FareShare Carmarthen

FareShare launches in Carmarthen.

Message from Deri.... "I've been a busy bunny the last few months with street food festivals, Cegin Hedyn, Carmarthen Food & Fareshare Cymru

My with role with FareShare is to bring their offering to Carmarthen by managing a team of volunteer van drivers with the goal to eventually extending it to Aberystwyth as soon as physically possible!

I’ve wanted to work for FareShare Cymru in some way or form since I started my EthicalChef business in 2010, I am so passionate about highlighting issues within the food industry and food waste is a HUGE issue which Fareshare do an INCREDIBLE job of tackling!

One of the ways is by redirecting food from supermarket warehouses destined for the incinerator and distributing it to community food projects who get it to the people who need it the most!

It was the news that FareShare wanted to expand to Carmarthen that added to my drive to open a community kitchen so the plan is to start taking 50kg of whole foods a week to incorporate into our business model in some way. It's not likely to be local, organic or even seasonal but it is honest & fresh otherwise destined to landfill which we can repurpose into our plans when we open our doors in October. To keep up to date with Cegin Hedyn Progress you can join our mailing list.

If you know of any community projects that support people through food please let them know about FareShare or if you would like to join our volunteer driver team please fill out this form.

Deri Reed"
